Shrewsbury Town 1 – Crewe Alexandra 1- Victory elusive at Montgomery Waters Meadow for both sides

On Saturday, Shrewsbury Town and Crewe Alexandra were held to a 1-1 draw at Montgomery Waters Meadow. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Shrewsbury Town arrived at the game looking pick up points, following a previous defeat to Accrington Stanley. Crewe Alexandra lost 2-0 in the last match they played against Charlton Athletic. As things stand, Shrewsbury Town are in 21st place, with 4 points from 7 matches, while Crewe Alexandra sit in 23rd, with 2 points from 7.

Shrewsbury Town started strongly in the first half, thanks to Sam Cosgrove giving Shrewsbury Town the lead, 19 minutes in. However, their lead was short lived, as Mikael Mandron equalised for Crewe Alexandra just before half-time and seeing the first half out 1-1. With both teams struggling to produce anything meaningful in the second half though, the game ended 1-1.

Shrewsbury Town brought on Daniel Udoh, Ryan Bowman and George Nurse for Tom Bloxham, Sam Cosgrove and Aaron Pierre. Crewe Alexandra brought on Chris Porter, Callum McFadzean and Oliver Finney, to replace Scott Kashket, Rio Adebisi and J’Neil Lloyd-Bennett.

There were bookings for Matthew Pennington, Ethan Ebanks-Landell, Aaron Pierre and Daniel Udoh from Shrewsbury Town. For Crewe Alexandra, Rio Adebisi, Luke Murphy, Scott Robertson, Kayne Ramsay and Donervon Daniels saw yellow.

Shrewsbury Town will next travel to Sheffield Wednesday, while Crewe Alexandra will face Burton Albion at home.
