Rotherham 0 – SWFC 2- Visitors secure points with win at the AESSEAL New York Stadium

Sheffield Wednesday enjoyed a mesmerising away victory against Rotherham at the AESSEAL New York Stadium on Saturday. Both teams arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Rotherham had been hopeful of continuing their run, following a 1-0 victory against Morecambe FC while SWFC were hoping to increase their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Fleetwood Town and Doncaster Rovers. As the table looks today, Rotherham are in 8th place on the table and has 6 points while SWFC sit in 1st with 10 points after 4 matches.

After a goalless first half, Whatever was said in the dressing room at half time, seemed to have a positive effect on SWFC who started the second half well, with an early goal from Florian Kamberi in the 50th minute. However they weren’t finished yet and Lee Gregory made it 2-0 at the 77 minute mark with a final score of 2-0.

For Rotherham, Kieran Sadlier, Freddie Ladapo and Daniel Barlaser, came on for Chiedozie Ogbene, Joshua Kayode and Oliver Rathbone. SWFC brought on Dennis Adeniran and Lee Gregory, to replace Lewis Wing and Florian Kamberi.

There were bookings for Oliver Rathbone from Rotherham. For SWFC, Lewis Wing, Bailey Peacock-Farrell, Jack Hunt and Dennis Adeniran saw yellow.

Rotherham will next play Doncaster Rovers at home, with SWFC facing Morecambe FC away.
