Rotherham United strolled past Doncaster Rovers with a 2-0 win on Saturday at the AESSEAL New York Stadium. Rotherham were looking to get back their winning ways, following a previous defeat to Sheffield Wednesday. Doncaster Rovers, on the other hand, are struggling for form following a draw in their last match. After today’s result, Rotherham are in 6th place on the table and has 9 points while Doncaster Rovers sit in 23rd with 1 point after 5 matches.
The Millers dominated the first half, thanks to Michael Smith finding the net, at 27 minutes. Rotherham then scored once more and increased their advantage thanks to a second effort from Michael Smith just before half-time to secure a 2-0 win. Both teams struggled to produce anything in the second half and the game ended 2-0.
For Rotherham, Joe Mattock, Daniel Barlaser and Rarmani Edmonds-Green, came on for Freddie Ladapo, Kieran Sadlier and Oliver Rathbone. Doncaster Rovers brought on Tiago Cukur and Aidan Barlow, to replace Branden Horton and John Bostock.
The referee booked Mikel Miller from Rotherham and Mikel Miller went off with a red card, while Doncaster Rovers’ Ethan Gaibraith, Matthew Smith and Kyle Knoyle also received a yellow.
Rotherham will next play Lincoln City away, with Doncaster Rovers facing Cambridge Utd at home.
