Rotherham United’s 3-0 win over AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday, was hard fought at the AESSEAL New York Stadium. Rotherham wanted to continue adding points after a 1-1 draw against Crewe Alexandra. AFC Wimbledon lost 2-1 in the last match they played against Shrewsbury Town. After today’s result, Rotherham and AFC Wimbledon currently occupy 5th and 14th spots in the table, with 17 points and 12 points respectively after 10 matches.

It was an impressive opening from Rotherham, with Will Grigg opening the rout in the 36th minute. However they weren’t finished yet and Michael Smith made it 2-0 just before half-time, finalising the first half 2-0.

The Millers continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Michael Smith finding the net again just before the final whistle. When the final wisthle blew, the result was 3-0 to Rotherham.

Both teams used all available substitutes. For Rotherham, Ben Wiles, Joshua Kayode and Hakeem Odofin, came on for Jamie Lindsay, Will Grigg and Daniel Barlaser, AFC Wimbledon brought on Dapo Mebude, Luke McCormick and Anthony Hartigan to replace Paul Osew, Ethan Chislett and George Marsh.

There were bookings for Viktor Johansson from Rotherham. For AFC Wimbledon, Aaron Pressley saw yellow.

Rotherham will next travel to Cheltenham Town, while AFC Wimbledon will face Burton Albion at home.
