Portsmouth FC cruises against Sunderland AFC on a home win at Fratton Park on Saturday. Portsmouth FC were looking forward to meeting again after losing their last game 2-1 to Burton Albion whilst Sunderland AFC were hoping to increase their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Cheltenham Town and Bolton Wanderers. After today’s result, Portsmouth FC are currently 11th with 15 points from 11 matches, while Sunderland AFC sit in 2nd, with 22 points from 11.
Portsmouth FC started strongly in the first half, with Marcus Harness opening the rout in the 19th minute. The momentum was now with Portsmouth FC, who then scored again through a goal from Lee Brown at the 33 minute mark to establish a 2-0. However they weren’t finished yet and John Marquis made it 3-0 just before half-time, which saw the first half end 3-0.
Portsmouth FC continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with John Marquis finding the net again in the 61st minute, leaving the final score at 4-0.
For Portsmouth FC, Louis Thompson and Ellis Harrison, came on for Marcus Harness and John Marquis. Sunderland AFC brought on Callum Doyle, Alex Pritchard and Dan Neill, to replace Elliot Embleton, Leon Dajaku and Corry Evans.
There were bookings for Ryan Tunnicliffe and Ronan Curtis from Portsmouth FC, and Dan Neill, for Sunderland AFC.
