Peterborough United 0-1 Gillingham FC – One goal makes the difference as Gillingham FC ease past Peterborough United

Peterborough United were defeated at home by Gillingham FC at Abax Stadium on Tuesday. Peterborough United had been hopeful of continuing their run after winning their previous two matches against Northampton Town at home and Swindon Town away, by 3-1 and 3-0 respectively. Gillingham FC were beaten 3-2 in the previous match against Oxford United. After today’s result, Peterborough United and Gillingham FC currently occupy 2nd and 9th spots in the table, with 79 points and 62 points respectively after 43 matches.

Gillingham FC started the first half well, with a goal from Connor Ogilvie at the 15 minute mark, seeing out the first half 0-1. The second 45 minutes ended with little further action at either end and goalless.

For Peterborough United, Ethan Hamilton and Harrison Burrows, came on for Olly Lee, Alex MacDonald and Jordan Graham. Gillingham FC brought on Dominic Samuel, Thomas O`Connor and Robbie McKenzie, to replace Olly Lee, Alex MacDonald and Jordan Graham.

There were bookings for Nathan Thompson, Sammie Szmodics and Siriki Dembele from Peterborough United. For Gillingham FC, Alex MacDonald and Kyle Dempsey saw yellow.

Peterborough United will next travel to Charlton Athletic, while Gillingham FC will face Northampton Town at home.
