Blackpool beat Northampton Town with a thumping 3-0 victory on Saturday at Sixfields Stadium. Northampton Town wanted to improve their league standing following a disappointing 2-2 draw with Gillingham FC in their previous game. Blackpool had lost their previous match against Shrewsbury Town. As the table looks today, Northampton Town and Blackpool currently occupy 22nd and 5th spots in the league, with 44 points and 74 points respectively after 45 matches.

Blackpool didn’t take long to get on the score-sheet, with Luke Garbutt opening the rout, 19 minutes in, seeing out the first half 0-1.

Blackpool continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Jerry Yates finding the net at the 75 minute mark. Blackpool then scored once more and increased their lead thanks to a 2nd effort from Jerry Yates just before the final whistle with a final score of 3-0.

For Northampton Town, Michael Harriman, Ryan Edmondson, Danny Rose, Caleb Chukwuemeka and Mark Marshall, came on for Joseph Mills, Shaun McWilliams, Alex Jones, Ryan Watson and Mikel Miller. Blackpool replaced Ethan Robson, James Husband, Elliot Embleton, Jerry Yates and Ellis Reco Simms for Jordan Gabriel, Marvin Ekpiteta, Keshi Anderson, Demetri Mitchell and Bradley Holmes.

There were bookings for Peter Kioso and Ryan Edmondson from Northampton Town. For Blackpool, James Husband saw yellow.

Northampton Town will next travel to Sunderland AFC, while Blackpool will face Bristol Rovers at home.
