Morecambe FC 2 – Shrewsbury Town 0- Visitors leave Globe Arena empty handed

On Saturday, Shrewsbury Town suffer an away defeat to Morecambe FC at Globe Arena. Morecambe FC arrived with the intention of increasing their league score after a 2-2 draw against Ipswich Town. Shrewsbury Town lost 1-0 in the last match they played against Burton Albion. After today’s result, Morecambe FC are in 5th place, with 4 points from 2 matches, while Shrewsbury Town sit in 24th, with 0 points from 2.

Morecambe FC started the game well, with a goal from Adam Phillips at the 34 minute mark. However they weren’t finished yet and Cole Stockton made it 2-0 just before half-time, to take a 2-0 lead into half time. Both teams struggled to produce anything meaningful in the second half, leaving the final score at 2-0.

Both managers made full use of their substitutions. For Morecambe FC, Alfie John McCalmont, Wes McDonald and Scott Wootton, came on for Adam Phillips, Josh McPake and Shane McLoughlin, Shrewsbury Town brought on Sam Cosgrove, Josh Daniels and Tom Bloxham, to replace Nathanael Ogbeta, Rekeil Pyke and Elliott Bennett.

There were bookings for Shane McLoughlin and Ryan Cooney from Morecambe FC, and David Davis, Aaron Pierre and Josh Daniels, for Shrewsbury Town.

Morecambe FC will next play Rotherham United at home, with Shrewsbury Town facing Portsmouth FC away.
