Ipswich Town 2 – Bolton Wanderers 5- Portman Road Stadium stunned as visitors seal victory

Bolton Wanderers’ 5-2 win over Ipswich Town on Saturday, was hard fought at Portman Road Stadium. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were keen to pick up points. Ipswich Town arrived with the intention of increasing their league score following a disappointing 2-2 draw with AFC Wimbledon in their previous game. Bolton Wanderers secured a point against Burton Albion in their previous match. As the table looks today, Ipswich Town are in 22nd place, with 3 points from 7 matches, while Bolton Wanderers sit in 3rd, with 12 points from 7.

Ipswich Town didn’t take long to get on the score-sheet, with an early goal from Macauley Bonne in the 5th minute. However, the good fortune didn’t last for long. An equalizer from Oladapo Afolayan at the 10 minute mark brought Bolton Wanderers level. The momentum was now with Bolton Wanderers, who then scored again through a goal from Eoin Doyle, 18 minutes in to establish a 2-1. However, their lead was short-lived, as an equalizer from Ricardo Santos at the 30 minute mark, brought Ipswich Town level. However, each side looked hungry to win and Bolton Wanderers then found the back of the net, 45 minutes in thanks to Oladapo Afolayan, taking the score to 3-2. However they weren’t finished yet and Joshua Sheehan made it 4-2 just before half-time, which saw the first half end 2-4.

Bolton Wanderers continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, with a goal from George Johnston in the 57th minute. When the final wisthle blew, the result was 5-2 to Bolton Wanderers.

For Ipswich Town, Janoi Donacien, Tom Carroll and Kayden Jackson, came on for Kane Vincent-Young, Conor Chaplin and Wes Burns, Bolton Wanderers brought on Elias Kachunga, Kieran Lee and Alex Baptiste, to replace Lloyd Isgrove, Joshua Sheehan and George Johnston.

There were bookings for Kane Vincent-Young from Ipswich Town. For Bolton Wanderers, Lloyd Isgrove and Gethin Jones saw yellow.
