Wigan Athletic eased past Gillingham FC in a 2-0 victory on Saturday at Mems Priestfield Stadium. Gillingham FC were looking to continue their run, following a 2-0 victory against Cambridge Utd. Wigan Athletic, on the other hand, were beaten 2-1 in the previous match against Sheffield Wednesday. After today’s result, Gillingham FC are in 18th place on the table and has 11 points while Wigan Athletic sit in 1st with 22 points after 11 matches.
Following a goalless first half, Wigan Athletic continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Max Power giving Wigan Athletic the lead at the 64 minute mark. However they weren’t finished yet and Will Keane made it 2-0, at 82 minutes with a final score of 2-0.
For Gillingham FC, Gerald Sithole, came on for John Akinde. Wigan Athletic brought on Gavin Massey and Gwion Edwards, to replace James McClean and Callum Lang.
