Crewe Alexandra 2 – Cambridge 2: Alexandra Stadium sees frustrating draw

On Saturday, Crewe Alexandra and Cambridge were held to a 2-2 draw at Alexandra Stadium. Crewe Alexandra were looking for a victory after a 1-1 draw against Plymouth Argyle. Cambridge had lost their previous match against Gillingham FC. After today’s result, Crewe Alexandra are in 22nd place, with 8 points from 11 matches, while Cambridge sit in 15th, with 13 points from 11.

Crewe Alexandra started the first half well, with Oliver Finney finding the net, 10 minutes in. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Scott Robertson in the 26th minute to secure a 2-0 win.

Cambridge took the lead in the second half, thanks to Will Jaaskelainen finding the net at the 79 minute mark. Cambridge then scored once more and snatched an equaliser thanks to a goal from Adam May just before the final whistle to make it 2-2.

Both coaches used all substitutions. For Crewe Alexandra, Mikael Mandron, Josh Lundstram and Callum McFadzean, came on for Scott Kashket, Oliver Finney and J’Neil Lloyd-Bennett, Cambridge brought on Shilow Tracey, Wes Hoolahan and Sam Smith, to replace Jack Lankester, Conor Masterson and James Brophy.

The referee booked Scott Kashket and Kayne Ramsay for Crewe Alexandra.

Crewe Alexandra will play at home against Doncaster Rovers, while Cambridge will face Morecambe FC away.
