Charlton Athletic 1 – Cheltenham Town 2- Visitors steal the show at The Valley

Charlton Athletic on Saturday lost to Cheltenham Town on a home defeat at The Valley. Charlton Athletic were looking to continue their run, following a 2-0 victory against Crewe Alexandra. Cheltenham Town, on the other hand, are struggling for form following a draw in their last match. After today’s result, Charlton Athletic are in 20th place, with 4 points from 7 matches, while Cheltenham Town sit in 14th, with 9 points from 7.

Cheltenham Town found the net first, thanks to a goal from Matty Blair after only 6 minutes. However they weren’t finished yet and Taylor Perry made it 2-0 at the 33 minute mark. The first half ended 0-2.

Charlton Athletic took the initiative in the second half, with Jonathan Leko finding the net, at 59 minutes. When the final wisthle blew, the result was 2-1 to Cheltenham Town.

Both coaches used all substitutions. For Charlton Athletic, Jonathan Leko, Conor Washington and Pape Souare, came on for Charlie Kirk, Diallang Jaiyesimi and Samuel Lavelle, Cheltenham Town brought on Liam Sercombe, Lewis Freestone and Kyle Joseph, to replace Taylor Perry, Matthew Pollock and Alfie May.

There were bookings for Akin Famewo and Jayden Stockley from Charlton Athletic. For Cheltenham Town, Sean Long saw yellow.

Charlton Athletic will next travel to Wycombe Wanderers, while Cheltenham Town will face Oxford United at home.
