Charlton Athletic were defeated at home by Bolton Wanderers at The Valley on Tuesday. Charlton Athletic wanted to continue adding points following a disappointing 2-2 draw with Portsmouth FC in their previous game. Bolton Wanderers were beaten 1-0 in the previous match against Sunderland AFC. After today’s result, Charlton Athletic are in 23rd place, with 6 points from 10 matches, while Bolton Wanderers sit in 7th, with 15 points from 10.

Charlton Athletic didn’t take long to get on the score-sheet, with a goal from Josh Davison at the 12 minute mark. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Oladapo Afolayan equalised for Bolton Wanderers just before half-time, which brought Ian Evatt’s squad level at 1-1 at the half time break

Bolton Wanderers continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Kieran Lee finding the net, 73 minutes in. Bolton Wanderers looked to have the game under control when they scored again and incerased their lead, thanks to a second effort from Kieran Lee, 81 minutes in to establish a 3-1. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Antoni Sarcevic just before the final whistle with a final score of 4-1.

Both teams used all available substitutes. For Charlton Athletic, Conor Washington, Alex Gilbey and Jayden Stockley, came on for Jonathan Leko, Sean Clare and Ben Watson, Bolton Wanderers brought on Liam Gordon, George Johnston and Nathan Delfouneso, to replace Declan John, Alex Baptiste and Eoin Doyle.

There were bookings for Samuel Lavelle and Josh Davison from Charlton Athletic. For Bolton Wanderers, Gethin Jones and Ricardo Santos saw yellow.

Charlton Athletic will next travel to Fleetwood Town, while Bolton Wanderers will face Shrewsbury Town at home.
