Cambridge 3 – Burton Albion 0- Bad day for visitors at Abbey Stadium

Cambridge Utd snatched all three points from Burton Albion in a 3-0 victory on Saturday, at Abbey Stadium. Cambridge were looking for a victory after a 1-1 draw against Plymouth Argyle. Burton Albion were coming from consecutive wins against Sunderland AFC and Ipswich Town. As things stand, Cambridge are in 12th place, with 5 points from 4 matches, while Burton Albion sit in 6th, with 9 points from 4.

After a goalless first half, Cambridge certainly were out of the blocks quickly in the second half, with Sam Smith finding the net, 53 minutes in. The momentum was now with Cambridge, who then scored again through a goal from Tom Hamer at the 73 minute mark to establish a 2-0. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a 2nd effort from Tom Hamer, 79 minutes in with a final score of 3-0.

For Cambridge, Shilow Tracey and Harvey Knibbs, came on for James Brophy and Sam Smith. Burton Albion brought on Cameron Borthwick-Jackson, Danny Rowe and Aaron Holloway, to replace Thomas O`Connor, Jonny Smith and Joe Powell.

There were bookings for Lloyd Jones from Cambridge. For Burton Albion, Michael Mancienne and John Brayford saw yellow.

Burton Albion and Cambridge will next play at home to Cheltenham Town and Bolton Wanderers respectively.
