Bolton Wanderers 2 – Shrewsbury Town 1- Home fans rewarded with victory at University of Bolton Stadium

On Saturday, Shrewsbury Town suffer an away defeat to Bolton Wanderers at University of Bolton Stadium. Bolton Wanderers were looking to continue their run, following a 4-1 victory against Charlton Athletic. Shrewsbury Town were beaten 2-1 in the previous match against Wycombe Wanderers. After today’s result, Bolton Wanderers are in 7th place on the table and has 18 points while Shrewsbury Town sit in 23rd with 8 points after 11 matches.

Bolton Wanderers started the game well, thanks to Antoni Sarcevic finding the net, 18 minutes in. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Oladapo Afolayan in the 23rd minute. The score at half time was 2-0.

Shrewsbury Town took the initiative in the second half, with Luke Leahy finding the net just before the final whistle. The final result, Bolton Wanderers 2, Shrewsbury Town 1.

Both coaches used the full entitlement. For Bolton Wanderers, Lloyd Isgrove, Amadou Bakayoko and Joshua Sheehan, came on for Gethin Jones, Eoin Doyle and Kieran Lee, Shrewsbury Town brought on Tom Bloxham, Sam Cosgrove and Nathanael Ogbeta to replace Ryan Bowman, Daniel Udoh and Shaun Whalley.

There were bookings for Ricardo Santos from Bolton Wanderers, and Elliott Bennett, for Shrewsbury Town.
