After a goalless first half, AFC Wimbledon took the initiative in the second half, thanks to Ollie Palmer giving AFC Wimbledon the lead, 85 minutes in. In the end though, their celebrations were kept brief, as Paul Kalambayi equalised for Gillingham FC just before the final whistle and seeing the game end 1-1.
AFC Wimbledon brought on Luke McCormick, Ollie Palmer and Ethan Chislett for Paul Osew, Aaron Pressley and Dapo Mebude. Gillingham FC brought on Harvey Lintott, Mustapha Carayol and Rhys Bennett, to replace Robbie McKenzie, Danny Lloyd and Ben Reeves.
