Accrington Stanley were held to 3-3 draw by Portsmouth FC down on Tuesday at The Crown Ground. Accrington Stanley arrived with the intention of increasing their league score following a disappointing 3-3 draw with Sunderland AFC in their previous game. Portsmouth FC, on the other hand, were coming from a 1-0 win against Bristol Rovers. As the table looks today, Accrington Stanley and Portsmouth FC currently occupy 11th and 6th spots in the table, with 63 points and 69 points respectively after 22 matches.

Accrington Stanley started strongly in the first half, thanks to Colby Bishop finding the net, on 15 minutes. Accrington Stanley then netted again and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Cameron Burgess just before half-time. The score at half time was 2-0.

Portsmouth FC started strong in the second half and were able to dominate, with an early goal from John Marquis in the 50th minute. Portsmouth FC looked to have the game under control when they scored again and incerased their lead, thanks to a goal from Ryan Williams at the 54 minute mark to establish a 2-2. In the end though, their lead was short lived, as John Marquis equalised for Accrington Stanley just before the final whistle. The game ended wih a 3-3 draw.

Portsmouth FC brought on Ryan Williams, Andy Cannon, Paul Downing, Charlie Daniels and Harvey White, to replace James Bolton, Ben Close, Callum Johnson, George Byers and Marcus Harness.

There were bookings for Ben Barclay and Seamus Conneely from Accrington Stanley, and Ronan Curtis and Andy Cannon, for Portsmouth FC.

Accrington Stanley will play at home against Charlton Athletic, while Portsmouth FC will face AFC Wimbledon away.
