Accrington Stanley 2 – Cambridge 1: Visitors to The Crown Ground leave with nothing

Accrington Stanley defeat Cambridge Utd 2-1 on Saturday at The Crown Ground. Accrington Stanley were looking to get back their winning ways after losing their last game 2-0 to Milton Keynes Dons while Cambridge were hoping to increase their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Bolton Wanderers and Burton Albion. Following today’s result, Accrington Stanley are currently 9th with 9 points from 2 matches, while Cambridge sit in 10th, with 8 points from 2.

Accrington Stanley started strongly in the first half, thanks to Matt Butcher giving Accrington Stanley the lead in the 14th minute. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Harry Pell, 30 minutes in, to take a 2-0 lead into half time.

Cambridge took the initiative in the second half, with a goal from Joe Ironside, 79 minutes in. When the final wisthle blew, the result was 2-1 to Accrington Stanley.

For Accrington Stanley, Tommy Leigh, came on for Matt Butcher. Cambridge brought on Adam May, Sam Smith and Shilow Tracey, to replace Jensen Weir, Harrison Dunk and George Williams.
