Visitors leave with nothing, as Barcelona secure 2-1 home win against Real Sociedad

Barça eased past Real in a 2-1 victory on Wednesday at the Nou Camp. Barcelona were looking to continue their run after winning their previous two matches against Granada away and Athletic Bilbao away, by 4-0 and 3-2 respectively. Real Sociedad were beaten 3-2 in the previous match against Sevilla. Following today’s result, Barcelona are in 3rd place on the table and has 34 points while Real Sociedad sit in 5th with 30 points after 19 matches.

It was an impressive opening from Real Sociedad, beginning with a goal from Willian Jose in the 27th minute. However, their lead was short lived, as an equalizer from a goal from Jordi Alba, 31 minutes in brought Barcelona level. Later, Barcelona scored again and turned the match thanks to a goal from Frenkie De Jong in the 43rd minute just before half-time, thereby seeing the first half to a 2-1. Both teams struggled to produce anything in the second half and the game ended 2-1.

For Barça, Trincao, Carles Alena, Miralem Pjanic and Clement Lenglet came on for Ander Guevara, Adnan Januzaj, Portu and Robin Le Normand, while Real brought on Robert Navarro, Ander Barrenetxea, Alexander Isak and Modibo Sagnan to replace Ander Guevara, Adnan Januzaj, Portu and Robin Le Normand.

There were bookings for Sergio Busquets, Trincao and Carles Alena from Barça and Adnan Januzaj, Ander Barrenetxea and Robin Le Normand for Real.

Barcelona will next travel to Elche, while Real Sociedad will face Real Betis at home.
