Villarreal held 1-1 by Real Sociedad in at the Madrigal

Villarreal were held to 1-1 draw by Real Sociedad down on Saturday at the Madrigal. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were keen to pick up points. Villarreal were looking for a victory after a scoreless draw against Huesca in their previous match. Real Sociedad had managed to pick up a single point in their encounter with Real Betis. As the table looks today, Villarreal and Real Sociedad sit 5th, (35 points) and 6th, (32 points), in the table respectively, after 21 matches.

Villarreal started well with, beginning with early goal from Dani Parejo in the 3rd minute. The score at half time was 1-0.

Real Sociedad took the lead in the second half, following Alexander Isak opening the scoring just before the final whistle, leaving the final score at 1-1.

For Villarreal Pervis Estupinan and Fer Nino came on for Francis Coquelin and Paco Alcacer, and Real brought on Martin Zubimendi, Jon Guridi, Carlos Fernandez, Andoni Gorosabel and Adnan Januzaj for Illarramendi, Ander Guevara, Portu, Robin Le Normand and Joseba Zaldua.

There were bookings for Etienne Capoue from Villarreal and Illarramendi, Robin Le Normand and Ander Guevara for Real.

Villarreal will next travel to Elche, while Real Sociedad will face Cádiz at home.
