Elche fell to an away defeat at the hands of Valencia at Mestalla on Saturday. With each team arriving on the back of a league defeat, they were both keen to pick up points. Valencia were looking forward to meeting again after losing their last game 3-1 to Atlético Madrid whilst Elche were beaten 2-0 in the previous match against Barcelona. As things stand, Valencia are in 13th place on the table and has 23 points while Elche sit in 19th with 17 points after 21 matches.
Valencia started the first half well, following a goal from Daniel Wass, 22 minutes in, thereby seeing the first half to a 1-0. The second 45 minutes ended with little further action at either end and goalless.
Valencia brought on Kang In Lee and Yunus Musah for Manu Vallejo and Goncalo Guedes. Elche brought on Miguel Cifuentes, Pere Milla, Guido Carrillo and Victor Rodriguez, to replace Josan, Antonio Barragan, Emiliano Rigoni and Raul Guti.
