Valencia snatched all three points from Celta in a 2-0 victory on Saturday, at the Mestalla. Valencia were looking to get back winning ways, following a previous defeat to Real Madrid. Celta Vigo were looking to extend their winning run after a 3-1 victory against Elche. As the table looks today, Valencia and Celta Vigo currently occupy 12th and 10th spots in the league, with 27 points and 29 points respectively after 24 matches.
After an uneventful first half, Valencia continued to pile on the pressure the second half and were rewarded, beginning with a goal from Manu Vallejo in the 90th minute. Later, Valencia scored again and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Kevin Gameiro in the 90th minute just before the final whistle, which sealed the victory for Valencia.
As for substitutions, for Valencia, Kevin Gameiro, Manu Vallejo and Ferro came on for Alex Blanco, Uros Racic and Kang In Lee, while Celta brought on Ivan Villar, Joseph Aidoo and Fran Beltran to replace Facundo Ferreyra, Augusto Solari and Nolito.
The referee booked Kang In Lee and Jose Luis Gaya from Valencia. Celta Vigo had the worst of it though, with Nolito, Santi Mina and Renato Tapia seeing yellow, and Ruben Blanco then sent off with a red.
