Real Sociedad snatched all three points from Elche in a narrow 1-0 victory on Sunday, at the Reale Arena. Real were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run, following a 3-2 victory against Granada. Elche lost 4-1 in the last match they played against Villarreal. After today’s result, Real and Elche sit 2nd, (16 points) and 15th, (6 points), spots respectively, after 7 matches.

After an un-eventful first half, Real piled on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Mikel Oyarzabal in the 81st minute so at full time it was 1-0 to Real.

For Real, Portu, Cristo Romero, German Valera, Ander Guevara and Aritz Elustondo, came on for Adnan Januzaj, Aihen Munoz, Mikel Oyarzabal, Benat Turrientes and Mikel Merino. Elche brought on Gerard Gumbau, Guido Carrillo, Pere Milla, Tete Morente and Javier Pastore, to replace Raúl Guti, Lucas Perez, Dario Benedetto, Pablo Piatti and Fidel.

There were bookings for Portu from Real, and Kiko Casilla, Johan Mojica and Omar Mascarell, for Elche.
