Betis were held to 1-1 draw by Cádiz down on Friday at the Estadio Benito Villamarin. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were keen to pick up points. Betis wanted to improve their league standing following a 1-1 draw with Mallorca in their previous game whilst Cádiz had managed to pick up a single point in their encounter with Levante. As it stands, both teams are on 2 points and occupy 7th and 6th places respectively after 2 matches.

It was an impressive opening from Cádiz, thanks to Alvaro Negredo giving Cádiz the lead at the 11 minute mark. However, their lead was short lived, as Juanmi equalised for The Green-and-Whites at the 22 minute mark, to take a 1-1 lead into half time. Both teams struggled to produce anything meaningful in the second half, leaving the final score at 1-1.

For Betis, Joaquin, William Carvalho, Aitor Ruibal, Cristian Tello and Loren Moron, came on for Martin Montoya, Borja Iglesias, Rodri, Andres Guardado and Juanmi. Cádiz brought on Isaac Carcelén, Alex, Milutin Osmajic, Alvaro Jimenez and Martin Calderon, to replace Alberto Perea, Jens Jonsson, Alvaro Negredo, Anthony Lozano and Tomás Alarcon.

The referee booked Rui Silva, Martin Montoya, Aitor Ruibal and Juan Miranda for Betis.

Cádiz and Betis will next play at home to Osasuna and R Madrid respectively.
