If you read Jose’s writing, you would never think that he is anything but professional. However, he is the joker of our team.

Betis were held to 0-0 draw by Athletic Bilbao down on Wednesday at the Estadio Benito Villamarin. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were keen to pick up points. Betis wanted to improve their league standing following a disappointing 2-2 draw with Valencia in their previous game. Athletic Bilbao had to settle for a draw 0-0 against Alaves. As things stand, Betis are currently 5th with 49 points from 31 matches, while Athletic Bilbao sit in 9th, with 38 points from 31.

For Betis, Loren Moron, Diego Lainez, Andres Guardado and Paul Akouokou, came on for Borja Iglesias, Cristian Tello, Aitor Ruibal and Sergio Canales. Athletic Bilbao brought on Raul Garcia, Unai Lopez, Ibai Gomez and Inaki Williams for Oihan Sancet, Mikel Vesga, Jon Morcillo and Alex Berenguer.

The referee booked Guido Rodriguez, Andres Guardado and Claudio Bravo from Betis and Nabil Fekir went off with a red card, while Athletic Bilbao’s Oscar De Marcos and Unai Nunez also received a yellow.

Betis will next play Real Valladolid away, with Athletic Bilbao facing Atletico Madrid at home.
