Betis were held to 1-1 draw by Atletico down on Sunday at the Estadio Benito Villamarin. Betis were looking for a victory after a 1-1 draw against Elche. Atletico, on the other hand, were beaten 1-0 in the previous match against Seville. After today’s result, Betis and Atletico currently occupy 6th and 1st spots in the table, with 47 points and 67 points respectively after 30 matches.

Atletico dominated the first half, thanks to an early goal from Yannick Carrasco in the 5th minute. However, their lead was short lived, as Cristian Tello equalised for Betis, 20 minutes in, which saw the first half end 1-1. The second half ended with little further action at either end and goalless.

For Betis, Juanmi, Diego Lainez and William Carvalho, came on for Joaquin, Aitor Ruibal and Guido Rodriguez. Atletico replaced Lucas Torreira, Renan Lodi, Vitolo and Sime Vrsaljko with Joao Felix, Mario Hermoso, Hector Herrera and Kieran Trippier.

Betis next face Athletic Club and Atletico are at home to Huesca.
