R Madrid strolled past Celta Vigo with a 5-2 win on Sunday at Santiago Bernabeu. RMA were looking to pick up points, following a 1-0 victory against Real Betis. Celta, on the other hand, had lost their previous match against Athletic Bilbao. As the table looks today, RMA are currently 1st with 10 points from 4 matches, while Celta sit in 18th, with 1 point from 4.
Celta started the first half well, with an early goal from Santi Mina in the 4th minute. However, their lead didn’t last for long, Karim Benzema producing an equaliser in the 24th minute, bringing Los Blancos level. However, each side looked hungry to win and The Sky Blues then found the back of the net, at 31 minutes thanks to Franco Cervi, taking the score to 2-1. However, their lead was short lived, as Karim Benzema equalised for RMA just before half-time, finishing the first half 2-2.
RMA started the second half with an intensified spirit, with Vinicius Junior finding the net at the 55 minute mark. RMA looked to have the game under control when they scored again and incerased their lead, thanks to a goal from Eduardo Camavinga at the 72 minute mark to establish a 4-2. However they weren’t finished yet and Karim Benzema made it 5-2 just before the final whistle to make it 5-2.
For RMA, Eduardo Camavinga, Marco Asensio, Rodrygo and Marcelo, came on for Eden Hazard, Luka Modric, Vinicius Junior and Miguel Gutierrez. Celta brought on Fran Beltran, Augusto Solari, Nolito, Thiago Galhardo and Joseph Aidoo, to replace Renato Tapia, Brais Mendez, Franco Cervi, Santi Mina and Jeison Murillo.
There were bookings for Nacho and Vinicius Junior from RMA. For Celta, Jeison Murillo, Nestor Araujo and Augusto Solari saw yellow.
RMA will next play Valencia away, with Celta facing Cádiz at home.
