Levante return home with all 3 points, after beating Real Madrid 2-1

Levante strolled past Madrid with a 2-1 win on Saturday at the Alfredo di Stéfano. Real Madrid were looking to continue their run after winning last match. Levante, on the other hand, had managed to pick up a single point in their encounter with Real Valladolid. As the table looks today, Real Madrid and Levante are 2nd, (40 points) and 9th, (26 points), spots respectively, after 21 matches.

Real Madrid started the game well, thanks to a goal from Marco Asensio in the 13th minute. However, their lead didn’t last for long, as an equalizer from a Jose Luis Morales, 32 minutes in brought Levante level. The score at half time was 1-1.

Levante continued to pile on the pressure the second half and were rewarded, following Roger Marti opening the scoring, 78 minutes in, sealing a resounding 2-1 victory for the away side.

For Real Madrid Vinicius Junior, Sergio Arribas and Mariano Diaz came on for Eden Hazard, Marco Asensio and Karim Benzema, while Levante brought on Enis Bardhi, Ruben Rochina, Dani Gomez and Ruben Vezo to replace Sergio Leon, Mickael Malsa, Jose Luis Morales and Roger Marti.

The referee booked Casemiro from Madrid and Eder Militao went off with a red card, while Levante’s Mickael Malsa and Gonzalo Melero also received yellows.

Real Madrid will next travel to Huesca, while Levante will face Granada at home.
