Getafe were looking forward to meeting again, following a previous defeat to Valencia while Seville were able to continue their winning streak after a 3-0 win against Rayo Vallecano in their last match. Following a goalless first half, Seville continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Erik Lamela just before the final whistle, leaving the final score at 1-0.
