Espanyol 2 – RMA 1- Points secure as Budgerigars ease past Los Blancos

Espanyol eased past R Madrid in a 2-1 victory on Sunday at Rcde Stadium. Espanyol were looking to get back their winning ways, following a previous defeat to Seville whilst RMA secured a point against Villarreal in their previous match. As the table looks today, Espanyol and RMA currently occupy 12th and 1st spots in the league, with 9 points and 17 points respectively after 8 matches.

Budgerigars started the first half well, with a goal from Raul De Tomas, 17 minutes in to see out the first half 1-0.

Espanyol continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to Aleix Vidal finding the net in the 60th minute. Los Blancos in turn, then responded, at 71 minutes increasing their lead with an effort from Karim Benzema, sealing a 2-1 victory for the away side.

For Espanyol, Manu Morlanes, Nicolas Melamed Ribaudo, Wu Lei, Didac Vila and David Lopez, came on for Oscar Melendo, Aleix Vidal, Adri Embarba, Oscar Regano and Sergi Darder. RMA brought on Rodrygo, Luka Jovic, Casemiro and Eden Hazard, to replace Eduardo Camavinga, Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Vinicius Junior.

There were bookings for Adri Embarba and Oscar Regano from Espanyol. For RMA, Eduardo Camavinga saw yellow.

Espanyol next face Cádiz and RMA are at home to Athletic Bilbao.
