Espanyol 1 – Alaves 0: One goal makes difference for Budgerigars at home

Espanyol beat Alaves with a thumping 1-0 victory on Wednesday at Rcde Stadium. Espanyol were looking for a victory after a 2-2 draw against Real Betis. Alaves, on the other hand, lost 2-0 in the last match they played against Osasuna. As it stands, Espanyol and Alaves sit 13th, (6 points) and 20th, (0 points), in the league respectively, after 6 matches.

After a goalless first half, Espanyol certainly were out of the blocks quickly in the second half, with a goal from Raul De Tomas in the 54th minute, which sealed the victory for Espanyol.

For Espanyol, Wu Lei, Fran Merida, David Lopez, Nany Dimata and Oscar Melendo, came on for Nicolas Melamed Ribaudo, Manu Morlanes, Keidi Bare, Raul De Tomas and Sergi Darder. Alaves brought on Mamadou Sylla, Facundo Pellistri, Toni Moya, Miguel De la Fuente and Matt Miazga, to replace John Guidetti, Tomas Pina, Manu Garcia, Alberto Rodriguez and Martin Aguirregabiria.

There were bookings for Leandro Cabrera and Diego Lopez from Espanyol, and Ruben Duarte, for Alaves.

Espanyol will next travel to Seville, while Alaves will face Atletico Madrid at home.
