Elche 1 – Celta 0- Visitors unable to get win at Estadio Martínez Valero

Elche strolled past Celta Vigo with a 1-0 win on Sunday at Estadio Martínez Valero. Elche were looking forward to meeting again, following a previous defeat to Real Sociedad. Celta were coming from consecutive wins against Granada and Levante. As the table looks today, Elche are in 12th place, with 9 points from 8 matches, while Celta sit in 15th, with 7 points from 8.

After an un-eventful first half, Whatever was said in the dressing room at half time, seemed to have a positive effect on Elche who started the second half well, thanks to an early goal from Dario Benedetto in the 49th minute and seeing the game end 1-0.

For Elche, Diego Gonzalez, Josema, Pablo Piatti, Lucas Boye and Pere Milla, came on for Gonzalo Verdu, Diego Gonzalez, Josan, Lucas Perez and Dario Benedetto. Celta brought on Franco Cervi, Denis Suarez, Thiago Galhardo, Augusto Solari and Okay Yokuslu, to replace Nolito, Fran Beltran, Brais Mendez, Jeison Murillo and Renato Tapia.

There were bookings for Josan, Antonio Barragan, Omar Mascarell and Kiko Casilla from Elche. For Celta, Nestor Araujo, Hugo Mallo and Santi Mina saw yellow.

Elche will next play Rayo Vallecano away, with Celta facing Seville at home.
