Elche on home loss to Atletico Madrid at Estadio Martínez Valero on Saturday. Elche were looking to get back winning ways, following a previous defeat to Osasuna. Atleti were able to continue their winning streak after a 5-0 win against Eibar in their last match. After today’s result, Elche are in 18th place on the table and has 30 points while Atleti sit in 1st with 76 points after 34 matches.

Atleti opened the score, with Marcos Llorente giving Los Colchoneros the lead in the 23rd minute, finalising the first half 0-1. The second 45 minutes ended with little further action at either end and goalless.

For Elche, Pablo Piatti, Antonio Barragan, Nino, Josan and Victor Rodriguez, came on for Tete Morente, Helibelton Palacios, Pere Milla, Ivan Marcone and Josema. Atleti brought on Joao Felix, Koke, Felipe and Saul Niguez, to replace Thomas Lemar, Angel Correa, Jose Gimenez and Luis Suarez.

There were bookings for Pere Milla, Lucas Boye and Antonio Barragan from Elche. For Atleti, Thomas Lemar and Yannick Carrasco saw yellow.
