Atlético enjoyed a mesmerising home victory against Elche at the Wanda Metropolitano on Saturday. Atlético Madrid were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run after winning their previous two games in the league. The most recent was against the Alavés away (2-1), the other to Getafe at home (1-0). Elche lost 3-1 in the last match they played against Getafe. Atlético Madrid continued to pile on the pressure the second half and were rewarded, thanks to another goal from Luis Suarez, scoring his second goal, 58 minutes in. However, Elche pull-back, 64 minutes in, with a goal from Lucas Boye. Atlético Madrid increased their lead thanks to a goal from Diego Costa in minute 80 to establish the 3-1, and the game ended 3-1.

For Atlético Madrid Angel Correa, Saul Niguez, Diego Costa, Geoffrey Kondogbia and Felipe came on for Thomas Lemar, Yannick Carrasco, Joao Felix, Luis Suarez and Koke, while Elche replaced Juan Sanchez Mino, Emiliano Rigoni and Nino with John Nwankwo Donald, Josan and Raul Guti.
