Atlético delivered a resounding 2-1 victory against Eibar on Thursday, at Ipurua Municipal Stadium. Eibar arrived at the game looking pick up points after losing their last game 2-1 to Levante whilst Atlético Madrid were hoping to increase their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Alavés and Getafe. As it stands, Eibar are in 15th place, with 19 points from 19 matches, while Atlético Madrid sit in 1st, with 44 points from 19.
Eibar started strongly in the first half, following a goal from Marko Dmitrovic, 12 minutes in. However, their lead didn’t last for long, as an equalizer from a Luis Suarez just before half-time brought Atlético Madrid level, which saw the first half end 1-1.
Atlético Madrid continued to pile on the pressure the second half and were rewarded, beginning with a new goal from Luis Suarez, scoring his second goal just before the final whistle, which sealed the victory for the visitors.
For Eibar Sergi Enrich and Pedro Leon came on for Yoshinori Muto and Pape Diop, while Atlético brought on Lucas Torreira, Joao Felix and Geoffrey Kondogbia to replace Angel Correa, Thomas Lemar and Luis Suarez.
There were bookings for Anaitz Arbilla and Kike from Eibar and Felipe and Stefan Savic for Atlético.
