Barcelona travel to Elche and secure victory

Elche fell to a home defeat at the hands of Barça at Estadio Martínez Valero on Sunday. Elche wanted to improve their league standing after a 2-2 draw against Real Valladolid while Barcelona were coming from consecutive wins against Real Sociedad and Levante. As the table looks today, Elche and Barcelona currently occupy 19th and 3rd spots in the league, with 17 points and 37 points respectively after 20 matches.

Barcelona started strong and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Frenkie De Jong, 39 minutes in and managed to see out the first half 1-0.

Barcelona continued to pile on the pressure the second half and were rewarded, beginning with a goal from Riqui Puig just before the final whistle, which sealed the victory for the visitors.

For Elche Tete Morente, Luismi and Nino came on for Raul Guti, Emiliano Rigoni and Victor Rodriguez, while Barça replaced Ousmane Dembele and Pedri for Trincao and Riqui Puig.

The referee booked Sergio Busquets and Antoine Griezmann for Barcelona.

Elche will next travel to Valencia, while Barcelona will face Athletic Bilbao at home.
