Betis on home loss to Barca at the Estadio Benito Villamarin on Sunday. Both Real Betis and Barcelona arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Real Betis were looking to pick up points after winning last match. Barcelona were hoping to increase their winning streak after back-to-back victories against Athletic Club and Elche. As it stands, Real Betis and Barcelona sit 7th, (30 points) and 2nd, (43 points), in the table respectively, after 22 matches.

Real Betis found the net, thanks to Borja Iglesias opening the scoring in the 38th minute. The score at half time was 1-0.

Barcelona continued to apply pressure the second half and were rewarded, beginning with Lionel Messi opening the scoring in the 59th minute. Later, Barcelona scored again thanks to a goal from Victor Ruiz in the 68th minute to establish the 2-1. However, the good form didn’t last for long. An equalizer from a goal from Victor Ruiz, scoring his second goal in the 75th minute brought Real Betis level. However, Barcelona just before the final whistle reestablished their lead thanks to a goal from Trincao in the 87th minute, and the game ended 3-2.

For Betis, Rodri, Cristian Tello, Guido Rodriguez, Loren Moron and Sergio Canales came on for Ronald Araujo, Martin Braithwaite, Riqui Puig, Miralem Pjanic and Sergio Busquets, while Barca brought on Frenkie De Jong, Pedri, Lionel Messi, Trincao and Samuel Umtiti to replace Ronald Araujo, Martin Braithwaite, Riqui Puig, Miralem Pjanic and Sergio Busquets.

There were bookings for Victor Ruiz from Betis and Frenkie De Jong, Ousmane Dembele and Sergio Busquets for Barca.

Real Betis will next travel to Villarreal, while Barcelona will face Alaves at home.
