Atleti 2 – Barca 0- Los Colchoneros seal precious win at Wanda Metropolitano

Barcelona on away loss to Atleti at Wanda Metropolitano on Saturday. Atleti were looking to get back their winning ways, following a previous defeat to Alaves. Barca had been hopeful of extending their winning run, after a 3-0 victory against Levante. As things stand, Atleti are in 2nd place, with 17 points from 8 matches, while Barca sit in 9th, with 12 points from 8.

Atleti started strongly in the first half, with a goal from Thomas Lemar in the 23rd minute. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Luis Suarez just before half-time to see out the first half 2-0. Both teams unable to deliver anything further, the score remained at 2-0 at full time.

For Atleti, Kieran Trippier, Angel Correa, Antoine Griezmann, Felipe and Renan Lodi, came on for Rodrigo De Paul, Joao Felix, Luis Suarez, Mario Hermoso and Yannick Carrasco. Barca brought on Sergi Roberto, Ansu Fati, Luuk De Jong, Riqui Puig and Clement Lenglet, to replace Nicolas Gonzalez, Philippe Coutinho, Óscar Mingueza, Gavi and Sergino Dest.

There were bookings for Rodrigo De Paul and Koke from Atleti, and Gavi, for Barca.

Atleti will next travel to Granada, while Barca will face Valencia at home.
