Athletic Bilbao vs. Mallorca

Mallorca fell to an away defeat at the hands of Athletic Bilbao at San Mames Stadium on Saturday. Both teams arrived in good form, having secured victories in their previous matches. Athletic Bilbao were looking to pick up points, following a 1-0 victory against Celta Vigo while Mallorca were coming from consecutive wins against Espanyol and Alaves. As the table looks today, Athletic Bilbao are currently 1st with 8 points from 4 matches, while Mallorca sit in 7th, with 7 points from 4.

After a goalless first half, Athletic Bilbao applied pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Dani Vivian at the 68 minute mark. The Lions then scored once more and increased their lead thanks to a goal from Inaki Williams in the 74th minute with a final score of 2-0.

For Athletic Bilbao, Asier Villalibre, Oier Zarraga, Nicholas Williams, Mikel Vesga and Nicolas Serrano, came on for Raul Garcia, Unai Vencedor, Alex Berenguer, Dani Garcia and Inaki Williams. Mallorca brought on Kang In Lee, Rodrigo Battaglia, Aleix Febas, Joan Sastre and Abdon, to replace Jordi Mboula, Iddrisu Baba, Inigo Ruiz de Galarreta, Martin Valjent and Take.

There were bookings for Dani Garcia from Athletic Bilbao, and Iddrisu Baba and Aleksandar Sedlar, for Mallorca.

Athletic Bilbao will next travel to Atletico Madrid, while Mallorca will face Villarreal at home.
