Athletic Bilbao enjoyed a mesmerising home victory against Alaves at San Mames Stadium on Friday. Athletic Bilbao arrived with the intention of increasing their league score following a disappointing 1-1 draw with Valencia in their previous game. Alaves were able to continue their winning streak after a 1-0 win against Atletico Madrid in their last match. As the table looks today, Athletic Bilbao and Alaves currently occupy 6th and 19th spots in the league, with 13 points and 3 points respectively after 8 matches.

Athletic Bilbao started the first half well, with Raul Garcia finding the net just before half-time The second half ended with little further action at either end and goalless.
