Mallorca’s 1-0 win over Alaves on Saturday, was hard fought at the Estadio de Mendizorroza. Alaves were looking forward to meeting again after losing their last game 4-1 to R Madrid while Mallorca are struggling for form following a draw in their last match. Following today’s result, Alaves and Mallorca currently occupy 20th and 1st spots in the table, with 0 points and 4 points respectively after 2 matches.
Following a goalless first half, Mallorca continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Fernando Nino finding the net, at 80 minutes. The game ended with a 1-0 victory for the visitors.
For Alaves, John Guidetti, Mamadou Loum, Javi Lopez, Facundo Pellistri and Ivan Martin, came on for Edgar Mendez, Manu Garcia, Joselu, Pere Pons and Tomas Pina. Mallorca brought on Fernando Nino, Rodrigo Battaglia, Salva Sevilla, Amath Ndiaye and Lago Junior, to replace Abdon, Inigo Ruiz de Galarreta, Iddrisu Baba, Jordi Mboula and Take.
The referee booked six players. Florian Lejeune and Ruben Duarte from Alaves, who saw yellow cards and Ruben Duarte (2 yellow cards), sent off with a red, as well as for Mallorca Pablo Maffeo, Amath Ndiaye and Dani Rodriguez received yellows.
Alaves will next travel to Valencia, while Mallorca will face Espanyol at home.
