Portugal on home loss to Germany at the Allianz Arena on Saturday. After today’s result, both teams are on 3 points and sit in 3rd and 2nd places respectively after 2 matches.

The Portuguese found the net first, with a goal from Ronaldo in the 15th minute. However, the good fortune didn’t last for long. An equalizer from Rúben Dias at the 35 minute mark brought Germany level. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Guerreiro, 39 minutes in, finishing the first half 1-2.

The Germans started the second half with renewed vigour, thanks to a goal from Havertz in the 51st minute. The momentum was now with Germany, who then scored again through a goal from Gosens at the 60 minute mark to establish a 4-1. In the end though, Portugal hit back though, 67 minutes in, with a goal from Diogo Jota and seeing the game end 4-2.

For Portugal, Renato Sanches, Rafa Silva, João Moutinho and André Silva, came on for Bernardo Silva, Carvalho, Bruno Fernandes and Diogo Jota. Germany brought on Halstenberg, Can, Süle, Goretzka and Sané, to replace Gosens, Hummels, Gündogan, Havertz and Gnabry.

The referee booked two players from Germany, Havertz and Ginter.

Portugal next face France and Germany are at home to Hungary.
