Hungary open European Championship season with defeat against Portugal. Today's result, Hungary and Portugal currently occupy 4th and 1st spots in the league, with 0 points and 3 points respectively after one match.

Following a goalless first half, Portugal continued to pile on the pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Guerreiro finding the net, 84 minutes in. The momentum was now with Portugal, who then scored again through a goal from Ronaldo, 87 minutes in to establish a 2-0. The Portuguese then scored once more and increased their advantage thanks to a second effort from Ronaldo just before the final whistle with a final score of 3-0.

For Hungary, Nego, Schön, Siger, Varga and Varga, came on for Schafer, Sallai, Kleinheisler, Fiola and Nagy. Portugal brought on Rafa Silva, André Silva, Renato Sanches and João Moutinho, to replace Bernardo Silva, Diogo Jota, Carvalho and Bruno Fernandes.

There were bookings for Nego and Orban from Hungary, and Rúben Dias, for Portugal.

In the second round of action in the European Championship, both Portugal and Hungary will play at home against Germany and France respectively.
