Villarreal delivered a resounding 0-4 victory against Celta on Friday, at Municipal de Balaidos. Celta were looking forward to meeting again, following a previous defeat to Real Madrid. Villarreal, on the other hand, were looking to extend their winning run after a 2-1 victory against Levante. At the moment, Celta and Villarreal are 8th, (23 points) and 3rd, (32 points), in the table respectively, after 18 matches.

Villarreal started strongly in the first half, with early goal from Gerard Moreno in the 5th minute. Later, Villarreal scored again and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Moi Gomez to make it 0-2. Later, Villarreal scored again thanks to a goal from Dani Parejo in minute 19 to establish the 0-3. Later, Villarreal took the lead with a goal form a goal from Fer Nino in minute 31, which saw the first half end 0-4. With both teams struggling to produce anything meaningful in the second half though, the game ended 0-4.

For Celta Jordan William Holsgrove and Alfonso Gonzalez came on for Miguel Baeza and Fran Beltran, while Villarreal brought on Yeremi Pino, Samuel Chukwueze, Carlos Bacca, Jaume Costa and Francis Coquelin to replace Fer Nino, Etienne Capoue, Moi Gomez, Alfonso Pedraza and Manu Trigueros.

The referee booked Brais Mendez for Celta.

Celta will next travel to Real Betis, while Villarreal will face Granada at home.
