Stoke 2 – Huddersfield 1: The Potters prevail in home win against The Terriers

Stoke City’s 2-1 win over Huddersfield Town on Saturday, was hard fought at Bet365 Stadium. Stoke were hoping to get something from this game, following a previous defeat to Fulham while Huddersfield were coming from consecutive wins against Reading and Sheffield United. After today’s result, Stoke are in 3rd place on the table and has 13 points while Huddersfield sit in 7th with 10 points after 6 matches.

The first half of the game started well for Huddersfield, with Harry Toffolo giving The Terriers the lead just before half-time, which saw the first half end 0-1.

The Potters started the second half with renewed vigour, thanks to an early goal from Jacob Brown in the 50th minute. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Matty Pearson, at 63 minutes with a final score of 2-1.

Stoke brought on Joe Allen, Steven Fletcher and Alfie Doughty for Romaine Sawyers, Sam Surridge and Mario Vrancic. Huddersfield brought on Ollie Turton, Danel Sinani and Ademipo Odubeko, to replace Tom Lees, Duane Holmes and Fraizer Campbell.

There were bookings for Mario Vrancic and Joe Allen from Stoke. For Huddersfield, Tom Lees, Fraizer Campbell and Duane Holmes saw yellow.

Stoke will play at home against Barnsley, while Huddersfield will face Blackpool away.
