Sheffield Wednesday suffered an away loss to Sheffield Wednesday on Monday at Hillsborough Stadium. Both teams came from defeats in their previous league games. It was an impressive opening from Sheffield Wednesday, with an early goal from Julian Borner in the 5th minute. The momentum was now with The Owls, who then scored again through a goal from Callum Paterson, 20 minutes in to establish a 2-0. They then scored again, increasing their advantage thanks to a goal from Adam Reach at the 23 minute mark. The score at half time was 3-0.

Sheffield Wednesday continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Jordan Rhodes finding the net in the 65th minute. The Owls then scored once more and increased their lead thanks to a second effort from Adam Reach, 69 minutes in with a final score of 5-0.
