Sheffield United strolled past Derby County with a 1-0 win on Saturday at Bramall Lane. Both teams arrived fresh from some positive results. Sheffield U were keen to hang onto their position at the top of league and extend their winning run, following a 3-1 victory against Hull City. Derby were looking to extend their winning run after a 2-1 victory against Stoke City. As things stand, Sheffield U and Derby are 11th, (12 points) and 24th, (-2 point), in the league respectively, after 9 matches.
Following a goalless first half, Sheffield U applied pressure in the second and were rewarded, thanks to a goal from Billy Sharp just before the final whistle so at full time it was 1-0 to Sheffield U.
Both coaches used allfull available substitutions. For Sheffield U, Oliver McBurnie, Enda Stevens and Conor Hourihane, came on for Oliver Norwood, Rhys Norrington-Davies and Iliman Ndiaye, Derby brought on Ryan Allsop, Jason Knight and Kamil Jozwiak, to replace Louie Sibley, Ravel Morrison and Sam Baldock.
The referee booked Morgan Gibbs-White from Sheffield U. Derby had the worst of it though, with Graeme Shinnie seeing yellow, and Kelle Roos then sent off with a red.
