Reading 1 – Boro 0: Points secure for The Royals at the Madejski Stadium

Middlesbrough fell to an away defeat at the hands of Reading at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday. Reading were looking to continue their run after winning their previous two matches against Fulham away and Peterborough United at home, by 2-1 and 3-1 respectively. Boro lost 2-1 in the last match they played against Blackpool. At the moment, Reading are in 8th place, with 13 points from 9 matches, while Boro sit in 16th, with 9 points from 9.

Following a goalless first half, Reading certainly were out of the blocks quickly in the second half, with Alen Halilovic giving The Royals the lead, 55 minutes in and seeing the game end 1-0.

For Reading, Michael Stickland and George Puscas, came on for Dejan Tetek and Junior Hoilett. Boro brought on James Lea Siliki, Toyosi Olusanya and Duncan Watmore, to replace Martin Payero, Isaiah Jones and Andraz Sporar.

The referee booked Dejan Tetek, Luke Southwood and Rahman Baba from Reading. Boro had the worst of it though, with Isaiah Jones, Lee Peltier and Paddy McNair seeing yellow, and Matt Crooks then sent off with a red.

Reading will play their next game away against Derby County, while Boro will face Sheffield United at home.
