North End 1 – West Brom 1: The Lilywhites and The Baggies play out a draw

North End were held to 1-1 draw by West Brom down on Saturday at Deepdale. With both teams drawing in their previous fixtures, they were keen to pick up points. North End were looking for a victory after a 2-2 draw against Sheffield United. West Brom had managed to pick up a single point in their encounter with Derby County. Following today’s result, North End are in 17th place, with 9 points from 8 matches, while West Brom sit in 3rd, with 16 points from 8.

North End dominated the first half, thanks to a goal from Ben Whiteman in the 26th minute. However, their celebrations were kept brief, as Matthew Phillips equalised for The Baggies just before half-time, which brought Valerien Ismael’s squad level at 1-1 at the half time break With both teams struggling to produce anything meaningful in the second half though, the game ended 1-1.

For North End, Connor Wickham, Ali McCann and Josh Murphy, came on for Sean Maguire, Ben Whiteman and Emil Riis. West Brom brought on Karlan Grant and Callum Robinson, to replace Grady Diangana and Matthew Phillips.

There were bookings for Sepp Van den Berg from North End. For West Brom, Kyle Bartley saw yellow.

North End will next travel to Birmingham City, while West Brom will face Queens Park Rangers at home.
