Brentford delivered a resounding 5-0 victory against Preston on Saturday, at Deepdale. Preston were looking to pick up points after winning last match. Brentford, on the other hand, had managed to pick up a single point in their encounter with Birmingham City. As it stands, Preston and Brentford sit 16th, (48 points) and 3rd, (73 points), in the league respectively, after 41 matches.

Brentford started strongly in the first half, with Bryan Mbeumo opening the rout at the 9 minute mark. Brentford then scored once more and increased their lead thanks to a goal from Marcus Forss, 26 minutes in, which saw the first half end 0-2.

Brentford continued to apply pressure in the second and were rewarded, with Ivan Toney finding the net at the 76 minute mark. The momentum was now with The Bees, who then scored again through a goal from Sergi Canos, on 82 minutes to establish a 4-0. Brentford then netted once more and increased their advantage thanks to a goal from Emiliano Marcondes just before the final whistle to make it 5-0.

For Preston, Scott Sinclair, Anthony Gordon, Alan Browne, Jayson Molumby and Billy Bodin, came on for Marcus Forss, Tarique Fosu, Mathias Jensen, Vitaly Janelt and Mads Roerslev Rasmussen. Brentford brought on Sergi Canos, Saman Ghoddos, Emiliano Marcondes, Mads Bidstrup and Fin Stevens for Marcus Forss, Tarique Fosu, Mathias Jensen, Vitaly Janelt and Mads Roerslev Rasmussen.

The referee booked Ryan Ledson for Preston.
